Chill factor

Oh, yes kids, it's cold! And every Saffa or ex-pat with a blog, online journal or email address (ie: everyone) is writing about it!

And it is a shock to the system. I agree that the average temp dropping by around 7 degrees in two weeks is fairly bracing. To someone from the southern hemisphere, it seems to have skipped right past autumn and plunged straight into winter. And it doesnt help that your loved ones are calling from home to tell you that it's starting to warm up there. And it's just cruel that you cant go home for christmas, maybe next april - but COME ON, guys!

We knew it was coming. We chose this. We left our sunny homes and trekked over here to work and travel - with full (sometimes exaggerated) knowledge of just how grey, cold and rainy it was going to be.

Its sucks, but, I (for one), hereby pledge to not blog about the weather until it snows! Hey, I'm from South Africa! I'm allowed to be excited about snow!!!

You'll always have a compass, but sometimes you may have to reach them online! Miss you too! :)

Carls: Exactly! And, as evidenced by previous posts, I have a bit of a coat obsession - and edinburgh weather is the perfect excuse!

What's the point of going to live in the UK if you can't bitch about the weather? That would be like living in Cape Town and not whining about the rain in winter.

Its not even cold yet. Before you get to the UK all the Saffas moan and tell you how cold it is. F*ck em, I just came back from Moscow and that place is already sub-zero, we should be grateful that we were never colonised by Russian and our only option is to go and work there!
